In a child’s development and mental wellbeing, the role of the parent, family relationships and the environment is crucial. With this in mind, during the course we introduce the psychodynamic way of thinking and its essential concepts in a way that’s easy for everyone to understand, and relevant both scientifically and from the perspective of current interventions.
The training provides rich knowledge for any professional or parent who thinks in terms of development and works with early childhood or youth, supporting high-quality work. The course material also includes very useful information for parents, helping them prepare for raising children, with detailed developmental illustrations of the processes of different life stages and support for healthy development. We want to share modern information and perspectives about the stages of early childhood, early development, the parent–child relationship, young people’s mental and social development, their behaviour, and the complex background behind how all of this develops. We want to give a comprehensive picture of this important sub-area of childhood intervention: the importance of supporting children’s mental health, and a few key questions.
During the course, we’ll cover, among other things, problems that endanger mental health, the mental and social stages of development, applying communication methods with young people, using solution-focused brief coaching and the Kids’ Skills method, presenting coaching processes, knowing competence boundaries, and, last but not least, the specialised methodologies and tools used. We’ve put together a body of knowledge that provides useful information and know-how for every professional and parent.
